Leonardo has developed specialised versions of the ATR regional transport aircraft to respond to a wide range of missions, including maritime patrol, Search & Rescue (SAR) operations, environmental monitoring, medical evacuation and the transport of personnel, paratroopers and materials. The aircraft are equipped with a flexible mission system, innovative sensors and a complete communication suite for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) missions over land and sea.

ATR 42MP and ATR 72MP
The ATR 42MP and ATR 72MP are equipped with state-of-the-art sensors and mission systems capable of operating in stand-alone and net-centric modes, which enable the collection, processing and sharing of strategic data between operators, providing complete situational awareness about the operating scenario. The aircraft are optimised for maritime patrol, search and identification, SAR, counter drug trafficking, counter piracy and counter smuggling operations, as well as protection of territorial waters.
ATR 72 ASW
The ATR 72 ASW features a modular mission system, which can be used for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (AsuW) through the installation of a dedicated package of sensors and subsystems. The package includes a system for the storage and launch of sonobuoys, an acoustic subsystem, a magnetic anomaly detector (MAD), a payload management system, and two external fuselage pylons which can carry up to two light torpedoes.
